This listing is for my Springfield M1C Garand Sniper rifle with accessories.The serial number is 37491xx, putting the manufacture date at 1945. The rifle came from CMP in 2014 and I purchased it in 2020. The rifle came with the scope base attached and I purchased a reproduction scope from Sarco, with the intention of finding an original or reproduction scope mount so I could shoot the rifle. I fired a few rounds with it, but before I found a scope mount, my arthritis became so problematic that I cannot load a clip in a scoped Garand. I sold my M1D's and now am finally letting my M1C go.
I believe the rifle is still in its original 1945 configuration with the exception of the receiver being re-parkerized. The receiver has a dark parkerized finish with pretty much all the finish there except the top of the sight and the protective ears, which are worn shiny. The M1C scope base has serial number 3626408. Since I am limited to 15 photos on this site, I will be unable to do a thorough photo array of all the markings, but will describe them here (from the Garand Collectors Association worksheet): Receiver lower right front 090A, D2829135; Barrel side markings 1 S-A 4 45 ; Chamber bright Yes ; Trigger housing D28280-18-SA ; Triggerguard- stamped with milled notch ; Hammer C46008-7 SA ; Stock S.A. over N F R on left by receiver and crossed cannon cartouche behind that marking ; Sniper base M1C 3626408 ; Oiler Type 2, plastic ; Combo Tool M3A1 Type 2 ; Bolt D-28287-12 ; Gas cylinder Type 2C ; Gas cylinder lock Type 1, round top ; Lock screw Type 3 ; Follower Type 2 -12 ; Bullet guide Type 3C (milled) ; Follower arm 2S93 Type 4 ; Follower rod Type 5 ; Op rod 35382 9 SA with relief cut ; Sling ODcoarse weave, unmarked. I replaced the rear top wood since the wood that came on it did not look great. The original rear top wood will be included with the rifle. The original HART M2 flash hider is included with the rifle. These alone are selling for $250 and up at the present time. The CMP certificate will also be included.
The bore is very good with good rifling. I do not have any gauges to give you those readings and the CMP tag with the gauge readings did not come with the rifle when I bought it. If you have specific areas you would like additional photos, I can take them with my phone and send to you upon request.
