Description: WAR OF 1812 SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1795 FLINTLOCK MUSKET DATED 1809. 44 ½” smoothbore .69 caliber barrel stamped at the breech with the Springfield Armory “EAGLE HEAD/V/P” proofs. Lock plated dated “1809” behind the hammer with markings forward of hammer worn with pitting and no longer visible. Tang of the butt plate dated “1809” as well. Full length walnut stock. Iron mounts and old but not correct ramrod. Original flintlock configuration and not a reconversion. Top jaw and screw old original replacements otherwise lock parts original. Sling swivels blacksmith replacements during the period of use. Very good metal with wear and cleaning to a dull grey patina. Stock with the original finish with nice handling patina.
