Antique US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1795 WAR of 1812 Era MUSKET 1810/1811
“CONE CONVERSION” Musket with 1810 Dated Lock
Description: Antique US SPRINGFIELD ARMORY Model 1795 WAR of 1812 Era MUSKET 1810/1811 “CONE CONVERSION” Musket with 1810 Dated Lock Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Model 1795 Percussion Conversion Musket, manufactured circa 1810 at the Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Model 1795 was a smooth bore, flintlock-based musket and the first weapon system to be produced within the United States. It was designed very closely patterning the French “Charleville” Flintlock Musket that was used to by the colonists against the British during the American Revolutionary War. Beginning in 1848, when more than 700,000 of all types of flintlock muskets were reported in storage, the most serviceable were converted to percussion ignition. Many of these would go on to be used in the American Civil War, even guns such as this which would have been about 50 years old at the beginning of the conflict. The overall condition is good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age—there is, however, something that extends from the breech to about a foot from the muzzle (possibly a strip of old leather). Many inspection markings remain visible. Solid stock with an average amount of wear (minor dents and dings). Around the barrel tang there is some loss evident and some sort of old filler that blends into the rest of the wood. “1810” dated lock with the butt plate tang dated “1811”. “SBL” is stamped on the bottom of the buttstock. This example includes a nice period leather sling that remains in good shape. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 44-3/4 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
