**SOLD** Tula Arsenal SKS Semi Auto Rifle Chambered in 7.62x39 caliber **Matching Numbers - Mfg 1954**
Description: Here we have a collectors grade 1954 mfg Russian Tula Arsenal SKS rifle chambered in 7.62x39 caliber with all matching serial numbers. The SKS was manufactured at Tula Arsenal from 1945 to 1958, and at the Izhevsk Arsenal from 1953 to 1954, resulting in a total Soviet production of about 2.7 million. Throughout the Cold War, millions of additional SKS carbines and their derivatives were also manufactured under license in the People's Republic of China, as well as a number of countries allied with the Eastern Bloc. The SKS was exported in vast quantities and found favour with insurgent forces around the world as a light, handy weapon which was adequate for guerrilla warfare despite its conventional limitations. Beginning in 1988, millions were also sold on the civilian market in North America, where they remain popular as hunting and sporting rifles. This rifle is in very good condition and mechanically it functions like new. The 20 inch barrel has very good and strong rifling. There is some high edge wear and the stock has some dinks, spots of finish loss and handling marks. At some point the serial number was inscribed on the metal butt plate. The barrel does have Century Arms import marks on the barrel. This rifle would make a great addition to an existing collection of military rifles or would make an excellent start to a new collection.
