Sharps Borchardt. Model. 1878 business sporting rifle.

Sharps Borchardt. Model. 1878 business sporting rifle. Marked J.P. Lower. Cal 45-70. 28" barrel. Last of the Sharps single shot rifles. A deluxe business rifle shipped to J.P. Lower Denver Colorado June 16th , 1880. Barrel stamped "J.P. Lower Denver Col" and "Old Reliable"- Sharps rifle Company, Bridgeport Connecticut". Has a Lawrence folding rear sight, hooded globe front sight, pistol grip checkered walnut stock with Sharps checkered steel shotgun buttplate. Has set trigger, checkered walnut forend with pewter tip. Frame colors have turned soft grey with sharp legends. Screws retain generous amounts of original blue finish. Barrel finish is blue-grey patina with razor sharp legends. Oil finish stocks are excellent, proud to metal, no cracks or chips. Strong rifled bore with minor abrasion. Perfect action. Lyman Rear tang sight. I have shot this rifle and it functions as it should. Excellent example of Sharps deluxe Business sporting rifle sent to one of the most famous addresses of the west. Comes with a Sharps letter. Serial # 17958.
