EUROPEAN Martini Style SCHUETZEN 4mm Flobert Zimmerstutzen PARLOR Rifle C&R 20th Century Long Range Competition Style Rifle
Description: EUROPEAN Martini Style SCHUETZEN 4mm Flobert Zimmerstutzen PARLOR Rifle C&R 20th Century Long Range Competition Style Rifle Here we present a C&R Martini Zimmerstutzen Parlor Rifle, made by circa the 1920s. Zimmerstutzen “parlor rifles” are Swiss in origin and are essentially small-bore, light caliber target rifles with low muzzle velocities. They feature short, rifled barrels and fire a small spherical lead ball via a priming charge triggered by a long firing pin. Though used only for short-range target shooting, they were built to be extremely accurate, able to group shots tightly at fifty feet. Enthusiasts in Alpine countries once used them for indoor target shooting during the long winter months, when outdoor shooting was impractical. While known to late-nineteenth-century European sportsmen, Zimmerstutzen rifles became much less common after World War I and are now hard to find. They were also referred to as Gallery rifles and were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These would be set up in drinking establishments, at carnivals and even in people’s houses. Most floberts used ammunition that only used the primer as the propellant. These were very low velocity firearms and cartridges, making them relatively safe and quiet. The overall condition is very good. Bright case colors. Strong action. Good bore. Excellent stock with sharp checkering. The fore end mounting screw is missing, as well as the rear trigger guard tang screw. Numbers match. There are no sights present. BUG proofs. The breech of the barrel is marked 11.93. The majority of the barrel is open and there is only a short section of 4mm barrel near the breech—this to simulate the length and weight of a full-length barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel: 27-1/2 inches. Caliber: 4mm Rimfire Flobert Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1375 #217122 SOLD Antique: Yes |
