A Rarely Encountered Used Original Sharps-Borchardt Model 1878 Double Set Trigger Schuetzen Rifle in .40-70 Sharps (Straight) Caliber; Serial Number 69XX is located in front of the forward (rear-facing, set) trigger. The 30-Inch Heavy, Round Barrel is Slightly-Tapered; Barrel-Mounted and Tang-Mounted Target Sights are present – including a Globe-Aperture Front Sight. The High-Grade and Finely Figured, Diamond-Outline Checkered Pistol Grip Stock has a Shadow-Outline Cheekpiece, Bright Nickel Two-Prong Schuetzen Buttplate & Wrap-Around Checkered Schnabel Forend. The Top Prong of the Buttstock is also upper buttplate screw – turned/unscrewed using a tool through the hole shown in the photos. The Barrel retains nearly all of it’s blue; has a flat crown, and remarkably well-preserved rifling with sharp lands & grooves and no major blemishes to the naked eye. The Receiver, Lever and other action parts are mechanically tight, fully operational, and have a finish that’s predominantly smooth patina with barely the slightest hint of case color.
