Sharps ~ 1874 ~ .40 Caliber
Description: For your consideration, a Sharps Model 1874 in the sporting rifle configuration. According to the Sharps Rifle Company letter, this firearm shipped from the Hartford factory on November 16th, 1874 to Morgan Rood, a gunsmith and gun dealer in Denver in the territorial period and who notably was part of the famed "feuding gunsmiths of Denver." Bluing is in good shape, but does have a fair bit of wear on the edges of the flats. The wood has a few dents and dings, mostly on the forend, but is in overall good shape as well. Bore is about 90% or better. Both the firearm and the paperwork only list the caliber as '.40,' neither specify which .40 caliber Sharps cartridge the rifle is chambered in.
