Considered by some to be the finest lever action rifles ever produced and by some the finest American Rifles of any type. Arthur Savge was a true firearms genius; not only are these exceptionally handsome and well made but incorporate uniqure features found often found on rifles costing thousands more or not found elsewhere at all: these include cocking indicators (a safety feature), and cartridge counter visible from a small window on the left side of the receiver. We love 99's but espcially love 99F's with the light weight, slender and easy to carry forend, gracefully shaped curved case colored lever, steel (later changed to alum.) corregated butt plate and engine turned (damacented) bolt
This is a terrific example of a nicely worn but exceptionally well cared for (light loss of blue underside of receiver from being carried) but otherwise NO meaningful marks, scratches, dings. or other. Many 99's have a  date code visible on the lever boss indicating date of manufacture ...this one does not but serial # range places it between lst yr of production (1955) to 1957 makiing this nearly 70 or so yrs old. Chambered in Classic for this rilfe 300 Savage which is balistically nearly identical to 308 win (7.62 Nato), depending on loading 100 to 200 fps slower and originally designed to provide 30 06 like ballistics in a lever action rifle. This ammo is readily avail and not expensive.
This one is shown with a classic Bushnell Banner half tube scope 1.5 x 3 ( a perfect size scale for this rifle) with Bold post (Germanic # 4) type unique CH..easily picked up quickly for sight aquisiton in the woods. Also avail is the correct Lyman tang sight (these sell on ebay for 200.00) for an additonal $ 125.00 to the buyer of the rifle. The scope actually has the original box. Bushnell is owned by Bausch and Lomb  and while not expensive they are actually excellent or you can buy it with the lyman and not the scope (buyers choice or get both the scope and Lyman Tang Sight for an additonal $ 125.00
