Another Savage rifle from my private collection is now for sale.
The Savage 99 model EG is the rifle that really put Savage on the map. If you talk to anyone that has seen or owned a single Savage hunting rifle, it was probably an EG in 300 Savage. However, not too many were made in .358 WInchester like this one and they are highly sought after.
While this Savage rifle is not a mint-condition safe queen, it is nevertheless in very good condition as you can see from the photos. It has a 24" barrel and is factory drilled and tapped for scope installation, making scope installation easy. I have some Weaver style bases I could include if you'd like to scope up this rifle.
* One note of interest with Savage rifles in general that may apply to this rifle is that on occasion Savage would "use up" leftover parts, especially during periods of manufacturing transitions. I checked the serial numbers on the wood on this rifle and found that the buttstock has a different code than the forearm, and is of a lightweight factory design. In talking with some of you collectors it was generally accepted that this was not uncommon for Savage to do. In the interest of full disclosure I thought I'd let everyone know.
