1979 Vintage Ruger Model 77 RS Rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum w/ Vintage Burris 3-9X Scope
** Beautiful Vintage Tang Safety Ruger ** SOLD
Description: This is a very classy and handsome vintage Ruger Model 77 RS rifle in 7mm Remington Magnum with a period Burris 3 to 9 power scope. This is a nice early-production top-quality Ruger rifle with the sought-after tang safety. First introduced in 1968, the Ruger Model 77 rifle was the company's answer to the Remington 700 and Winchester Model 70. It quickly earned a reputation as an excellent rifle with shooters and hunters alike. The Ruger 77 displayed excellent workmanship, excellent reliability and great accuracy. The Model 77 was offered in two main models the 77 R and 77 RS, with the only difference being that the 77 RS was fitted with iron sights from the factory. The Model 77 RS remained in production for 24 years until 1992 at which point it was discontinued in favor of the updated model the Model 77 Mark 2. This particular Ruger Model 77 RS is serial number 74-56588, and was made in 1979. It remains in excellent condition overall, having been lightly used and well cared-for over the years. It features a beautiful gloss-blue factory finish, a receiver with integral scope bases for Ruger's ring design, a 24" inch barrel with exceptionally nice factory iron sights, an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, a factory adjustable trigger, a tang-mounted safety button, and a checkered American Walnut pistol-grip stock with a factory installed pistol grip cap, sling swivel studs, and red Ruger recoil pad. This rifle's original blue finish is in beautful condition, rating 98% plus. Finding any deductions worth 2% was extremely hard. The polished bright bolt is in excellent condition overall, showing only a few tiny little spots of staining from prior corrosion. The painted black finish on the triggerguard on the rifle looks excellent but has been touched up with paint by a previous owner. Given the excellent condition of the blue finish on the steel parts it coud not have had many marks on it prior to touching it up. All of the factory markings are crisp, clear, and in like-new condition. The bore in the 24" inch barrel is mirror-bright and pristine. The rifling is in perfect condition and there are no visible imperfections whatsoever throughout the barrel. The factory stock is in excellent condition overall as well, showing only some very minor handling/storage marks in the wood and completely free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage. The checkered panels on the pistol grip and forearm are in excellent condition, crisp and clean and free from any wear. All of the original stock hardware is intact and in great shape, including the original signature red recoil pad. The action on this Ruger is extremely smooth and precise, and it turns into battery perfectly without any grit or slop. All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order, including the adjustable trigger and tang safety. As mentioned previously, this Ruger Model 77 RS comes complete with a vintage Burris 3-9X scope mounted on factory Ruger 1" inch rings. The Burris scope has perfect bright optics and is in excellent condition inside and out. It features a gloss black finish and a duplex reticle, and all of the adjustments on it work perfectly including the windage and elevation adjustments and the power-selecting ring. We have no doubt that it will hold zero perfectly. These vintage Burris scopes were very high quality American-made optics, meant to compete with Leupold and quality European-made optics of the time. If you have been looking for a classy vintage American-made hunting rifle for your collection this 1979-production Ruger 77 RS would be an excellent choice. This rifle should perform 100% like the day it left the factory and the 7mm Remington Magnum chambering is well known for being extremely flat-shooting and powerful, capable of taking any big game in North America.
