Description:
Master Engraved and Gold Inlaid Angelo Bee Signed Ruger No. 1 Single Shot Falling Block Rifle in 375 H&H Magnum. Angelo Bee, is one of the last of the master hand engravers that still relies on simple tools such as a specialized hammer and various chisels to turn ordinary guns into absolute works of art. Despite his age, his passion for engraving still finds him at his workbench almost every day. Angelo took four years of evening classes at the Beaux Arts de Liege to develop his artistic talents and was ultimately accepted as an F.N. factory engraver apprentice. Known for his specialty of gold inlays, he has engraved a countless number of guns for his clients which include sports figures, directors, heads of state as well as being commissioned to create special pieces by Warner Bros Movie Studios, Walt Disney and Ducks Unlimited, just to name a few. Fitted with a Flaig's of Austria medium weight half octagon barrel with a beaded blade on a matte ramp front sight and a four leaf (three folding, one standing) rear express sight. The barrel at the muzzle is adorned with a single gold band and two wedges of deeply cut floral scroll engraving and a two inch wedge and gold band at the breech. The action is a muted coin finish with deeply engraved African game scenes of an elephant inlaid in gold on a lightly forested plain and an African black rhinoceros inlaid in gold in a grassy savannah scene. The left side is signed "ABEE" under the rhino with Angelo Bee's signature "bee" marking. Both side feature gold inlaid wire borders. The lever, and bottom of the action have deeply cut floral scroll engraving accents. Mounted on a nicely figured, fancy checkered Circassian walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with sling swivel studs, steel grip cap and an Old English solid rubber recoil pad. Condition is very fine as master engraved and upgraded with 99% of the current polished blue finish on the barrel and only minimal scattered light handling marks. The action has 95% of the current muted coin finish with small areas of discoloration and light oxidation on the lever and edges of the action. The wood is very fine with nice figuring, sharp checkering and minimal handling marks. The recoil pad shows cracking throughout. Mechanically excellent. Engravings are crisp and incredibly detailed. .375 H&H Magnum
