Ross Rifle Co. ~ MK II ** 1905 ~ .303 British

Description:
The Ross Rifle has somewhat of a checkered past but, it was a good rifle, just not a good battle rifle. Subjected to the trench warfare of WWI, they tended to jamb when dirty as the tight tolerances of the actions were not conducive to battlefield environments. They were touted to be very accurate rifles. This specimen was one of the 20,000 purchased by the U.S. Military for training and home guard duties as evidenced by the stamps on the underside of the wrist. Also, this rifle was manufactured in 1909 and is a Mark II two star model. Unfortunately, through the years it was crudely sporterized and roughly treated but, the action remains tight works smoothly and the bore is very shootable. Would make a great restoration project . .303 British

Metal Condition: "Most original finish is worn off however, there seems to be very little pitting
Wood Condition: "Poor, as the stock is broken through both sides at the trigger guard. The stampings on the butt and wrist are still clear
Bore Condition: "Strong rifling, bore is a little dark
Barrels: 28
Triggers: Military two stage
Stock Dimensions:

Fore End: Hand made and held on with electrical tape
Butt Pad: Metal with trap
