Savage Model 19H, .22 Hornet, Bolt-Action Rifle, Manufactured between 1933 and 1942
Description: The Savage Model 19H bolt-action rifle is the most scarce of all Model 19 variations. It is chambered for the .22 Hornet and has a 24 ½-inch, heavy blued barrel, a hooded front sight, a five-round detachable magazine (original), and is tapped and drilled for a rear sight (21 inches back from the muzzle) and for the original Lyman tube scope. This rifle is also tapped and drilled for a side-mounted scope base (no scope), though I do not think it is original. The overall length of this rifle is 44 inches; its unloaded weight is 7 pounds, 5 ounces. Its length of pull is approximately 13 ½ inches. I cannot determine its date of manufacture, but the Savage Model 19H was manufacture 1933 and 1942. Though the five-round magazine is stamped on the bottom “MOD.23D”, it is the original magazine that came with this rifle. Savage Arms supplied the same magazine with both the Model 19H and Model 23D. Overall, this rifle itself is in very excellent condition - 95+ percent. The bluing on the barrel and receiver is like new with no scratches, mars, blemishes, or other signs of wear - 100 percent. The finish on the front sight hood show a little wear - 98 percent. The plain walnut heavy stock is 95+ percent. There are a few small scattered dings, and the finish, particularly on the sides of the stock, has dulled somewhat with age and use; all are visible in the photos. The metal butt plate, stamped with SVG is 98+ percent with a small amount of wear on the edges. I do not believe the mounted scope base is original, and it is a little darker shade than the bluing on the barrel and receiver. There are no box, papers, or accessories with this rifle. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details. Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better.
