MERKEL / Suhl K2 STALKING RIFLE 10.3x60R w/ SCOPE
Description: MERKEL / Suhl K2 STALKING RIFLE 10.3x60R with SCOPE - $12000 Payment Methods: The price on this item is for Cashier’s Checks/Money Orders. For sale is a MERKEL K2 STALKING RIFLE with octagon barrel. The barrel is cold hammer forged and is 23.6" (60 cm) long. This exceptional gun weighs only 8 lbs 2 oz with scope and is ideal for elk hunting in the Pacific NW, pronghorn in Montana, or caribou in Canada’s Northwest Territories. When I was living in Switzerland I used the gun for Ibex hunting in the Alpes. A ‘kipplauf’ is a single-shot, hinged-breech nunting rifle that is lightweight. It can be disassembled and carried in a backpack when negotiating rough terrain in the high mountains. What I like about this gun is that it delivers a well-placed single shot that will dispatch the game animal quickly and cleanly which for me is the essence of meeting nature face-to-face and knowing there is but one shot and that it must be precise. The rifle is chambered in ‘10.3x60R’ which is a rimmed centerfire cartridge. Apparently the 10.3x60R is based on the British 450/400 Black Powder Express 2 3/8. If you do not self-load there is factory ammo available in Switzerland and Germany, mainly through RWS and Blaser. The kipplauf concept, embodied in what became known as the ‘Ischler short rifle’ makes it possible to reassemble this Merkel in less than a minute. This Merkel features the breech-block system invented by famous gunmaker Franz Jager of Suhl. with a moving steel insert inside an aluminum receiver, reducing weight while increasing strength, allowing the use of higher-pressure cartridges. In addition, the cocking/uncocking slide safety doesn’t merely block the trigger mechanism but it also cocks the firing pin, so when the safety is off, the rifle can’t fire, making hunting with a round in the chamber much safer. The Circassian walnut pistol grip stock features fine-line checkering and deep relief scroll carving. The pristine engraving features a game scene. The Merkel has a Bavarian style cheekpiece, black composition butt plate, a matching Circassian walnut forearm with equally impressive checkering and carving. Sling swivels on barrel and buttstock. Comes with leather muffle cap leather butt protector and fabric gun sleeve as well as a gun bag for storage and transportation. This is a beautiful "K" series special order stalking rifle is equipped with a Schmidt & Bender scope 2.5-10x56 ZENITH which has a retail price of $2200. Due to its magnification range it is also suitable for fast moving game. The scope has the FlashDot illuminated reticle in First Focal Plane. Schmidt & Bender was chosen by the United States Marine Corps to be their sniper rifle optical sight of choice. The large lens diameter and SCHOTT Glass helps the riflescope to make the best use of the last remaining light. People are amazed by the image brightness and contrast this riflescope generates, even when compared to high-quality binoculars. The scope comes with the original front and back protection caps.
