Schultz & Larsen Model 65DL Chambered in 7x61 Sharpe & Hart w/ Vintage Weaver 1.5 to 4.5X Scope
SOLD
Description: Schultz & Larsen is well known for building world class bolt action rifles that have earned a reputation for beauty, strength, and superb accuracy. This is a Model 65 DL, manufactured between 1960 and 1967 in Otterup, Denmark; and it is in excellent, nearly-new condition. It is a complete package with a vintage Weaver 1.5X to 4.5X variable power wideview scope with ranging reticle, mounted on the rifle with very attractive and strong vintage Buehler bases and rings. This S&L Model 65 DL is chambered in the sought after 7x61 Sharpe & Hart cartridge developed by Philip Hart and Richard Hart in the 1950's; who based their chambering off of the .300 H&H Magnum. This is a big game cartridge capable of taking any North American game, with lots of choices in bullets and can achieve a muzzle velocity over 3100 fps with some of the lighter bullet options. The brass can be fire formed from 7mm Remington Mag ammunition or it can be purchased ready to load from several sources commercially. This Schultz & Larsen 65 DL is a beautiful rifle with 98% plus of the original factory blue finish remaining on all the metal parts. The bore in this rifle is flat mint, with no imperfections or erosion of any kind. The rifling is sharp and prominent with well defined lands and grooves. The barrel has 1 complete turn every 10 inches and is 24 inches long. The bolt comes polished bright from the factory and is really smooth and locks up super tight. One of the features that sets these rifles apart is the locking lug configuration. Rather than having a couple of locking lugs at the bolt face, the Shultz & Larsen has four locking lugs at the rear of the bolt plus the bolt handle adds a fifth locking point. You can see these in the pictures. It also has a relatively short throw to open and close the action; it's very close to the A-Bolt in the required motion to lock and unlock. It makes for a very strong and accurate action. The trigger is a single stage type and it breaks cleanly with no creep. This rifle has a short throw wing-type safety that works perfectly. The original European Walnut stock is also in excellent condition. It has some small handling marks but there are no cracks or repairs. It has a checkered forearm and pistol grip with a rosewood tip and grip cap. It has a factory recoil pad embossed with the Shultz & Larsen name. It also has a set of factory sling swivels installed. The vintage Weaver variable power scope is also in equally impressive condition. The power ring works perfectly, the optics are bright and clear, and the elevation and windage adjustments work properly. It has a ranging type reticle with two fine horizontal crosshairs crossing the fine vertical one. This is a very fine rifle package that exudes class! Finding a better Model 65 DL would be nearly impossible. ALSO AVAILABLE: Several boxes of ammunition for this rifle and the reloading dies. Price Reduced!!
