Model 71 Deluxe Rifle Finished at the Factory September 16, 1941, A bore that looks like new, 24" round barrel with the Pre-War style machined and integral front ramp, Original and Correct 98-A bolt mounted sporting peep sight, Correct sight hood, This 1941 rifle is not factory drilled or tapped for a side mounted receiver sight as the later Model 71's were, Standard 2/3 length magazine tube that holds 4 cartridges, Deluxe grade wood with Deluxe checkering, 13 3/8" LOP over the correct checkered steel buttplate, 8 lbs. 5 oz., It retains 95% original barrel blue, The original receiver blue at 94%, The original wood finish remains at 96%, The checkering is at 100%, All the screws remain at 97-98%, The bore is like new and is bright and shiny the entire way. Complete with both sling swivels and the forward sling swivel is a band on the magazine tube and the rear sling eye is the standard 2 screw tiedown. The bolt face and inside of the receiver look as good as the outside and it appears this gun was not shot a lot and it remains in excellent mechanical condition with a bore like new. This is a solid original Winchester Lever for hunting and shooting that will go another lifetime. This Model 71 has had excellent custodians the entire 83 years since it left New Haven, Conn.
