THE MAUSER 98 - It evokes nostalgia for the old days and yet it is a milestone of modern firearms technology.  When it comes to dangerous game, there is undoubtedly no more reliable rifle than the Mauser 98 Magnum with its legendary and indestructible action, which is milled from a single piece.  Based on this legend, the gunsmiths at the MAUSER Meisterwerkstatt have now created another unique piece that is unrivalled.  The action, bolt handle ball, trigger guard, pistol grip cap and magazine base are finished in French Grey and, together with unrivaled master engraving of the "Big Five", special scrollwork and an exquisite wood grade 10 stock with a red recoil pad, give these masterpieces a truly unique look.  Each of the "Big Five" 98s is one of a kind.

Safari classic refined to perfection!   This masterpiece takes its name not only from the magnum action but primarily from the engraved magazine base, which features a deeply engraved, full-size portrait showing the Big Five - namely elephant, cape buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros and lion - which are deep-engraved and then shaded in Bulino technique.  Anatomically perfect and with expressive facial expressions, engraver Silke Ulrich staged the animal pieces.  The pistol grip cap is adorned with an image of the African continent, which is filled with a picture of the African savannah created from platinum and gold. Discreet but characterful English ornamentation frames the entire pistol grip cap.  This impressive filling is continued on other parts and details of the rifle, such as the bolt handle, the lock, the double square mount bases, the barrel base and the sight bases.

The 62 cm barrel and the sight bases are also blued and hand-polished.  Fine gold inlays on the barrel base and gold-coloured ‘F’ and ‘S’ markings on the safety add further accents to this masterpiece.  The safety catch, trigger, extractor and extractor ring as well as the lock retainer and firing pin are blued, giving the MAUSER 98 MAGNUM Big Five a truly royal look and bearing witness to the attention to detail that the gunmakers at the MAUSER Meisterwerkstatt have put into this extraordinary rifle.  The love of detail is rounded off by the sublimely engraved lettering ‘THE BIG FIVE’ on the firing pin nut, which wraps around the blued firing pin like a wreath making it look like a set gemstone to the shooter.  This MAUSER masterpiece is set in a high-contrast grade 10 root wood stock with a red butt plate.
