RARE Remington 4S AMERICAN BOY SCOUT Rolling Block
SALE PENDING
Description: RARE "AMERICAN BOY SCOUT" MARKED REMINGTON NEW MODEL NO. 4 ROLLING BLOCK. Norm Flayderman very rarely used the word “rare” but that is how he describes this neat old rolling block. Made in 1913 only. It has been estimated that fewer than 1500 of these were made. Later ones were marked “Military Model” but first year guns like this example were marked “American Boy Scout” boldly on the frame. 28 inch round barrel in 22 Short, Long and Long Rifle caliber. The Remington marking is far forward on the barrel to accommodate the musket style wood. Steel Remington RMC marked buttplate. Expected wear on buttplate but other markings are excellent. Sling swivels plus stacking swivel. This example is in better than average condition. Overall, the barrel has a plumb brown patina. The lug for the extremely rare bayonet is present, which is rare in itself. Bore shows pitting typical to early .22 rifles, but has visible rifling. The receiver has a grey, mottled appearance. Hammer and block retain traces of blue. Action us crisp and tight. Stock is in overall very good condition for its age, with scattered light bumps and scratches. Small chip on heel at buttplate. The top forestock is solid. These are often cracked. Comes with very good period sling made by Straight Shooter. Scarce rifle for the collector of Remington Rolling Blocks.
