1937 Remington Model 341-P .22 Rifle with Vintage Weaver Scope
Description: For sale, a very attractive Remington Model 341-P manufactured in 1937 with a vintage Weaver 6X scope. Remington made the bolt action, repeating, .22 rimfire Model 341 in both standard and 341-P (peep sight) models from 1936 to 1940. The Model 341 was a tube magazine fed, bolt action capable of firing all 3 sizes of the .22 rimfire. The Model 341 quickly developed a reputation for excellent accuracy and sturdy, reliable, construction. This factory peep sight example is serial number 109512, and according to the barrel coding it was manufactured in June of 1937 in the second year of production for this model. The 341-P's came with 4 front sight inserts and two different sized rear apertures. The rear aperture that was not being used for sighting the rifle was used ingeniously as the rear elevation adjustment knob holding on the rear peep sight. The knurling that made it easier to attach the aperture to the sight made loosening it to adjust elevation in its double duty as an adjustment knob just as easy. This rifle has all of the original factory blue finish intact, but it has slightly brown patina to it. It has been drilled and tapped for the side mounted optics mount designed for the 7/8ths of an inch tube rimfire scopes popular during this time period. The factory walnut stock on this 341-P is very attractive. It has a lot of nice dark grain to it for contrast with a clear gloss finish. It has had sling swivels added to it that may or may not be factory. The bore in this rifle is excellent. There is no pitting and the bore is bright with strong lands and grooves. The scope is a Weaver B6 which is a vintage 6 power scope with a 7/8ths tube and fine crosshairs. The optics are slightly cloudy but the scope is still usable and the adjustments work properly. The mount was designed so you can still use the factory peep sights even with the scope mounted. The factory peep sights are in great shape with both rear apertures, but only one of the front inserts; it is pictured and is the post and ring. This is a really cool rifle that is 100% functional in all aspects and will be a blast to shoot for the new owner.
