1949 Remington Model 521T .22 Rifle SOLD

Description:
The Remington Model 521T .22 rifle was introduced as a bolt-action repeater target rifle in 1947 and was produced until 1968.  It featured a 25" inch barrel with factory installed Lyman Target sights, a 6-shot detachable box magazine, a target style stock with an adjustable top sling swivel, and easy 1 screw take-down construction (screw slot was made wide enough for a coin to be used).  The Remington 521T quickly earned a reputation for being a very accurate and affordable target rifle with excellent build quality.  Total production of this model was approximately 67,000 over the 21 year production run.  This particular example is date coded "BUU" making it's date of manufacture January of 1949.  Serial numbers were not assigned to this model until 1959 so this rifle has no serial number.   This Model 521T is in excellent all-original condition and has obviously spent most of it's life in storage.  The factory blue is still beautiful and rates a solid 97 to 98% with only some very small handling marks visible under close examination and some speckling on the magazine.  Many of the screws, the trigger, and the bolt handle/sleeve were originally color-case hardened from the factory, and these parts all still show nice attractive bright colors with the only fading showing on the end of the bolt handle at the knob.  The bore is minty and bright in this rifle.  The rifling still looks brand new and sharp with no signs of pitting or erosion.  The original front sight is in excellent condition, the rear sight dovetail in the barrel has a period correct blank in place, and the receiver mounted Lyman peep sight is in superb condition.  The original stock and stock hardware are also in excellent original condition overall.  The Walnut stock is free from cracks or repairs, and it shows only some small dings and handling marks which you can see in the pictures provided.  The original ribbed black plastic buttplate is still in place in excellent condition and tight to the wood.  Everything on this Remington Model 521T works 100% like the day it left the factory.  All of the controls work properly and the action is smooth and precise.  The bolt goes into battery with no slop and the trigger functions perfectly.  If you have been looking for a new addition for your vintage .22 rifle collection this Remington 521T would be an excellent choice.  It is not often that we run across this model, and this particular example would be nearly impossible to upgrade from.  Not only would this rifle be a great investment, but it should be a superb performer at the range as well.
