Antique REMINGTON ARGENTINE CONTRACT Model 1879 ROLLING BLOCK Military Rifle Late 19th Century Remington Export
Description: Antique REMINGTON ARGENTINE CONTRACT Model 1879 ROLLING BLOCK Military Rifle Late 19th Century Remington Export Here we present an antique Remington Argentine Contract Model 1879 Rolling Block Rifle made circa 1879 in Ilion, New York. This example is one of the many “export” rifles made for foreign governments, all based on the Remington Rolling Block design. This is quite the scarce rifle to find in the market today. The Remington name and address on the tang of the receiver is very clear. The model and date information is listed on the barrel knoxform and is also very clear reading “MODELO ARGENTINO.1879 E.N.” The E.N. abbreviation is for the Ejercito Nacional, or National Army in Argentina. Around the late 1800s Argentina was a developing world power and had one of the largest economies in the world. Like any growing power, it needed arms, and as there were not yet local producers up to the task, they contracted out for their weaponry. They would later replace the rolling blocks with the more modern Argentine Contract Mauser rifles towards the end of the 1800s. The overall condition is very good. Excellent action. Bright, rifled bore. The walnut stock is solid throughout containing expected wear and a nice dark finish. Clear markings. Here is a wonderful piece of South American history for the collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 36 inches. Caliber: .43 Spanish Overall condition as seenin photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1235 #210064 SOLD Antique: Yes |
