1997 Remington Model 700 BDL in 8mm Remington Magnum SOLD
Description: This Remington has spent almost it's entire life in storage. Bought new in 1997 by the original owner, he took this Remington Model 700 BDL in 8mm Remington Magnum to the range one time and fired ten rounds thru it using the iron sights. The rifle was then put up in storage in a safe room wall rack. Unfortunately, the safe room developed a leak in the roof above the rack that this rifle was stored in, and moisture collected on the exterior of this rifle where the barrel meets the receiver, a spot on the receiver ahead of the bolt handle, on the iron sights, and on one area of the barrel about halfway to the muzzle (Pictures provided of all of these spots). That caused the rust on a otherwise "like-new" rifle. As you can see from the pictures, outside of those areas the blue finish is in excellent condition. The black finish on the alloy triggerguard and floorplate is also excellent, with no wear, scratches, or chipping. The bore in the 24" inch barrel is minty and bright in this 700 BDL. The rifling still looks brand new with sharp lands and grooves, and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible. The factory jeweled bolt is beautiful on this rifle, the jeweling is still mirror-bright and shows no wear. The factory checkered Walnut stock is in excellent shape overall. The checkering is still crisp and clean, and the wood is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs. There are two small storage dings in the stock on the right side (one is at the front of the comb, the other is below the receiver ring) but otherwise the wood is like-new. The stock has factory-installed sling swivel studs and a factory-installed Remington-branded recoil pad on it. The length of pull is 13 & 3/8ths inches to the end of the pad. The 8mm Remington Magnum chambering in this Remington makes this a serious big game rifle. The 8mm Remington Magnum cartridge is hard-hitting, flat-shooting, and a very accurate round. It is capable of taking ANY big game in North America cleanly. All of the controls on this 700 BDL are in perfect working order. As mentioned before, this rifle really hasnt even been "broken-in" yet. The bolt works nice and smoothly and goes into battery perfectly with no play in it. The trigger is quite good for a factory unit, breaking with a light pull without any grit or slop.
