1975 Vintage Remington Model 700 BDL Varmint Special in 6mm Remington
** Beautiful Varminter **
SOLD
Description: This is an extremely nice Remington Model 700 BDL Varmint Special in 6mm Remington. This rifle is in excellent condition overall and was manufactured in 1975. This was Remington's top-of-the-line traditional varmiont rifle model and was offered from 1967 until 1994. This particular example features a gloss blue factory finish, a drilled and tapped receiver and barrel for standard optics mounts or target scope mounts, a polished and jeweled bolt, a 24" inch heavy varmint profile barrel, and a checkered and satin-finished Monte Carlo American Walnut stock with a factory pistol grip cap, black forend tip, and sling swivel studs. The recoil pad on this rifle has been added and is aftermarket. It would have come with a buttplate rather than a pad. This rifle has certainly been well cared-for over the years and very lightly used. The glossy blue factory finish is bright and clean, rating 98% plus with the only deduction coming from a touch of finish wear on the knob of the bolt handle. The original black finish on the alloy triggerguard and floorplate is like-new and rates 99%, and the bright jeweled bolt is free from any staining and shows only some light runner marks. The bore in this Varmint Special is in excellent condition and bright. The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel, and there is no visible erosion or imperfections whatsoever. The original stock on this rifle is in beautiful shape, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/scratches. The only deductions from the stock are some very minor handling/storage marks in the wood that are only visible under close inspection. The checkered panels are still crisp and clean, and all of the stock hardware is intact and in great shape. The action on this rifle is slick and precise, and the bolt turns into battery perfectly without any grit or wiggle. The trigger on this Model 700 is superb, breaking like a thin glass rod with a very light pull. It really has to be felt to truly be appreciated. All of the other controls on this rifle work perfectly, and we have no doubt that this Varmint Special will shoot just as reliably and accurately today as the day it originally left the factory in 1975. This Remington comes with a period Redfield 1-piece base already mounted up, all it needs is a scope and rings to be ready for the woods or range. If you have been looking for a high-quality and classy American-made varmint rifle this vintage Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special would be an excellent choice.
