** SOLD ** Remington Model 700 Varminter Bolt Action Rifle in 7mm-08 Caliber **Mfg 1981 - Heavy Barrel Varminter Model**

Description:
Here we have a very handsome Remington 700 BDL Varminter heavy barrel bolt action rifle chambered in 7mm-08 caliber. The Remington Model 700 is a series of bolt-action centerfire rifles manufactured by Remington Arms since 1962. It is a development of the Remington 721 and 722 series of rifles, which were introduced in 1948. The M24 and M40 military sniper rifles, used by the US Army and Marine Corps, respectively, are both based on the Model 700 design. The Remington 700 is one of the classic bolt action rifles in America known for it's accuracy and dependability. It has proven itself as a hunting, tactical and benchrest rifle. The 7mm-08 Remington is a rifle cartridge that is almost a direct copy of a wildcat cartridge developed around 1958 known as the 7mm/308. As these names would suggest, it is the .308 Winchester case necked down to accept 7 mm (.284) bullets with a small increase in case length. Of cartridges based upon the .308, it is the second most popular behind only the .243 Winchester. However, the .308 is more popular than both. In 1980, the Remington Arms company popularized the cartridge by applying its own name and offering it as a chambering for their Model 788 and Model 700 rifles, along with a limited-run series within their Model 7600 pump-action rifles during the early 2000s. This particular example is in very good mechanical and physical condition. It has some light handling marks a hint of high edge wear. The contrasting forend and pistol grip cap make for a very handsome rifle. The stock has a very few light pressure marks and the action has been lightly glass bedded within the stock. The stock has skip line checkering and a hinged floorplate. The action is smooth and sure being aided by a jeweled bolt. Atop the receiver is a Redfield one piece mount. This fine Remington 700 Varminter would make a great addition to a collection or a great coyote schwacker.
