D2D has completed over 35,000 offerings during the past 22 years of business! We offer you a “Pre-War” Mossberg Manufactured Wards Western Field Model 04M-390B Single Shot .22 Rifle with Scope. This Wards Western Field 22 Model 04M-390B was manufactured by Mossberg from 1938 to 1941 to be retailed by Montgomery Wards department stores. It is the same as the model 26C Mossberg version. It is a take-down rifle that was proven to be simple, tough and accurate. The top of the barrel is marked “Wards Western Field / 04M 390B – 22 S-L-LR”. The push in locking take down wing nut is marked “PAT. NO. / 2145054”. This patent was applied for in November of 1937 and granted to Harold Mossberg on January 24, 1939. The rifle is overall in excellent condition as you can see especially since it is at least 81 years old. The stock shows some light use and storage marks but no cracks or repairs. The bluing is in excellent condition with no signs of rust or pitting. The bore is also in excellent condition and the rifle functions just fine. It still has the original “Safe – Green” and “Red – Fire” inserts which have usually gone missing by now. It has a Mossberg No. 9 mount that is marked “Wards 04M 2117A”. In it sits a 2 ½ power scope that is also in very fine condition inside and out. The front sight was replaced at some time but the factory rear barrel sight still remains. These “Old School” rifles don’t come up very often in this condition on the market. So here is your chance to replace your father’s or grandfather’s gun that you remember from the past. This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $50. It will be shipped in a double walled foam lined cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe.
