Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 Rifle, Tula 1940 with ammo pouch, bayonet, cleaning rod, CAI Import
Description: The Mosin-Nagant Model 91/30 is one the most mass-produced military bolt-action rifles in history with over 37 million units produced since its adoption by the Russian military in 1891. The Mosin-Nagant has probably seen more action than any other military firearm history. Indeed, the Wikipedia article on the Mosin lists no less than 41 separate conflicts from the Philippine Revolution (1896 – 1898) to the recent War in Ukraine. The reason for the Mosin’s longevity is simple – it easy to operate, repair, clean, has an acceptable level of accuracy, and the ammunition its uses, the 7.62x54R, is still in use by several nations today ensuring a good supply of ammunition for the foreseeable future. This rifle was produced at the Tula Arsenal in 1940. To the Russian people, World War 2 is more commonly known as the Great Patriotic War. In the West, this is the conflict the Mosin-Nagant rifle is most commonly associated with, not least because of the sheer number of WWII video games and films it commonly appears in. The magazine floorplate originally belonged to another rifle. The bluing is in good shape with some light wear on the barrel past the stock end cap. The bolt is mostly clean with a little rust present on the rear of the body. The wood is in fairly good shape with some minor dings or dents. On the handguard the wood finish shows quite a bit of wear. The rifle has a very good bore with a small amount of pitting present. It should provide good accuracy. The Tula Arsenal symbol is oddly partially over-stamped by another symbol. I am not familiar with this symbol. Any help identifying it would be appreciated. The rifle comes a few accessories. These include a leather sling, a twin ammo pouch, cleaning rod, and a socket bayonet. The rifle was imported by C.A.I. so it does have import markings. The original serial number has been stenciled onto the top of the butt plate, the magazine floor plate, and the bolt. The bayonet does not match the rifle. If it is installed it will be a VERY tight fit. You will need a brass or polymer hammer to rotate it. Condition wise the bayonet is in excellent shape. It exhibits some finish wear in spots but exhibits no rust or pitting.
