WWI-era JAPANESE Type 30 ARISAKA Training Rifle
Description: WWI-era JAPANESE Type 30 ARISAKA Training Rifle Russo-Japanese, WWI & WWII Rifle Here we present a Type 30 Arisaka Bolt Action Rifle, made circa 1900 at the Kokura Arsenal in Kitakyushu, Japan. The Type 30 was a project of Colonel Arisaka Nariakira, and his rifle was adopted in 1897, which is the 30th year of the Meijis, which is how it came to be known as the Type 30. This rifle was a building block in Japan’s domestic arms manufacture, which was relatively new, and the Type 30 was only manufactured from 1897 to 1905, when improvements culminated into the Type 38. The Type 30 would fight in the Russo-Japanese War, World War I & World War II, though it would be eclipsed by the Type 38 and then the Type 99 as time went on. This specimen is representative of about 10,000 Type 30 rifles which were once fully functional rifled converted for training purposes around the time of WWI. The primary modification to the gun is the bore being made smooth for use with blank cartridges. Some of the markings were removed and other markings applied. Those markings on top of the receiver designate it as a blank firing gun in Japanese. The serial number and arsenal mark still remains on the left side. The overall condition is fair to good. The metal surfaces retain about 70% of the original blue finish with the rest turning with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is fair as the wrist has been repaired and the top handguard is absent. The bore is smooth and shiny. The magazine is absent. The action is strong. Here is a very interesting piece that would likely have seen combat before being retired to help train the new recruits. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 31 inches in length. Caliber: 6.5x50mm Arisaka Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $600 #10542 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
