Description:
"U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock Musket “National Armory Bright". Harpers Ferry Arsenal. Dated 1833 on tail of lock and 1834 on breech, plus Tang. This is a Type III made from 1831-1844. This musket is in original flint not a conversion! Rare to find this third type in original flint. Cartouches on stock are perfect. There are some light dings and dents in the stock. No abuse. Note: There are numbers stamped on the lower Tang off the stock. They are: PX40ARA. They are from the period. We asked a well-known and respected collector about these numbers. He said, “He did not know for sure but ventured a guess that they may be property numbers from being issued later to a state arsenal".
