A one of a kind rifle! This is an original military issue Remington M40 sniper rifle brought back from Vietnam by a Marine officer, who later had it signed by Carlos “White Feather" Hathcock in 1992 at a Former Marine Association event. The rifle is in excellent condition showing only handling wear. The rifle, bolt, mount and scope are all matching numbered, as issued by the Marine Corps. Finding one of these historic rifles in this kind of condition is practically impossible, and having it signed by the famous White Feather sniper himself makes it an amazing collectible.
The original owner of this rifle had it since 1969 when he was still in the Corps. He became active in the Texas Association of Former Marines and in 1992 they invited Hathcock to speak at one of their events, where he had him sign the rifle. And it’s on video! Realizing that the autograph would be worthless without proof, he acquired a copy of the video from the person recording the event. We’ve had the VHS tape converted to DVD and digital file. The tape contains recordings of 2 events that Hathcock spoke at, and it’s the second one where he signed the rifle. The signing takes place at the 3:35:15 mark, near the end of the video.
In addition to the VHS tape and DVD, included with this set is a letter from the Marine captain who owned the rifle explaining his history with it and how it came to be signed by Carlos Hathcock. Also included are photos of Hathcock speaking at the event, one of Hathcock’s cards, one of the original owner’s cards as president of the Former Marine Association, and a copy of Henderson’s book “Marine Sniper" inscribed by Hathcock to the owner of the rifle. A fantastic and historical set of items.
