SCARCE World War I U.S. TRAINING RIFLE CO. M1903 Dummy TRAINING Rifle SLING VERY NICE, Numbered “478” & CANVAS “YMCA” SLING
Description: SCARCE World War I U.S. TRAINING RIFLE CO. M1903 Dummy TRAINING Rifle SLING VERY NICE, Numbered “478” & CANVAS “YMCA” SLING Here we present a Scarce U.S. Training Rifle Company Model 1903 Bolt Action Training Rifle, made circa the pre-World War I era in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These were made just prior to the U.S. involvement in World War I in very limited numbers by the U.S. Training Rifle Company and were sold for $7.00 to schools and “Y.M.C.A.” organizations. Later, in 1918, approximately 10,000 were produced during the war for the U.S. Navy. These were all dimensionally similar to the Model 1903 Springfield Rifle. There was a severe shortage of service rifles for training purposes at the start of World War I. This company produced these non-firing rifles that were basically replicas of the Model 1903 to fulfill that need. At the time, the Model 1903 was the standard U.S. military rifle. It was not designed to fire but had the same weight and balance as the 1903 Springfield. The bolt was designed to operate in the normal manner. The bolt operates as designed and cocks the plunger which is then released by the trigger. I have seen very few of these over the years and fewer still in this nice of condition. The overall condition is good. The bolt can be worked, but this is a non-firing training example. Solid stock. Legible markings. Good sling. This firearm is classified as Other. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1000 #230211 SOLD Antique: Yes |
