Swedish Model 1867 Rolling Block Rifle
Description: Serial #132, 12.17 x 44mm CF, 36 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that has some moderate freckling within the grooves. This is an 1870 dated rifle that does not have an identifiable maker’s marking, but conforms to the specs of the Model 1867 Swedish Rolling Block as modified to center fire, and with the range markings converted to metric on the rear sight. The metal has retained traces of original blue along the barrel with an overall plum-brown and gray patina prevailing. The frame, which is not maker marked on the exterior, has muted original color case-hardening visible, and scattered areas of mild surface freckling. The birch forend and buttstock have numerous small handling marks under an overall added varnish finish, with non-matching numbers on the buttstock, and no provision for a forend cap. The action is tight and fully functional, but no ramrod is included. This is a nice example of a commercially-made, military style Rolling Block, and rates very good overall.
