About Us: Private hobbyist/collector of mostly pre WW2 military rifles and thinning out our collection. I'm not an FFL so all FFL sales will go through my local shop unless (1) your local and then we can work out something in person OR (2) Your FFL will accept a firearm from a NON FFL. I will not cut corners and will only follow the rules so please don't ask for anything else. I'm open to reasonable offers but don't expect a response if its just silly.
Japanese Type 18 Murata 1885 11mm black powder rifle
Description: Rare Imperial Japanese Type 18 Murata, introduced in 1885 using the black-powder 11x60mmR Murata cartridge. The designation of "Type 18" comes from the Japanese Imperial calendar-- 18 being the years since the beginning of Emporer Meiji's reign in Japan. The Type 18 was a revision of the earlier Type 13 Murata rifle resulting in a simplified bolt and minor handling changes. The Type 18 Murata saw service with the Imperial Japanese Army during the First Sino-Japanese war with China in 1894-1895, as well as the subsequent Invasion of Taiwan in 1895 as well. By the turn of the century many were converted to shotguns and sold on the civilian hunting market in Japan; and those that escaped this conversion were sold to various Chinese Warlords. The stock is nice and solid, with some expected handling marks and divets from age and being a military arm. The bluing has mostly turned brown, again due to age-- but the metal is in very good condition with the only pitting being along the stockline, which is minor. The rifle is complete with original cleaning rod, and the impossible to find extractor is present as well (the extractors are seperate from the bolt and fall freely off of the bolt when its removed from the gun). Firing pin is unbroken and firing pin spring still has lots of tension (Type 13 and 18 both use a v-spring housed in the bolt handle to provide tension to the striker and firing pin). Very seldom seen and nice condition Japanese Murata for your collection. As always, have the gun checked by a competent gunsmith before firing!! $1600 +shipping, antique no ffl required! USPS money order for payment.
