Czech BRNO ARMS Vz.24 SNIPER Rifle 8mm ROMANIAN IOR 4.5x28mm SCOPE WWII C&R TWO LETTER PREFIX; SOVIET BLOC
Description: Czech BRNO ARMS Vz.24 SNIPER Rifle 8mm ROMANIAN IOR 4.5x28mm SCOPE WWII C&R TWO LETTER PREFIX; SOVIET BLOC Here we present a C&R Czechoslovakian Vz. 24 Mauser Sniper Rifle made circa the mid-1930s by ?eská Zbrojovka in Brno, Czechoslovakia. The vz. 24 rifle is a Mauser pattern bolt-action designed and produced in Czechoslovakia from 1924 to 1939. It was developed from the German Mauser Gewehr 98 line and features a very similar bolt design. The rifle was designed in Czechoslovakia shortly after World War I to replace the Vz. 98/22, also a Czech-designed derivative of the Gewehr 98. The carbine followed a similar trend in weapon design at the time, that a short rifle gave away little in ballistic efficiency at combat ranges but was easier to handle on account of its shorter length. The Czech made vz.24 rifles are considered among the best Mauser pattern rifles produced. The production quality was high, and the majority of the pieces were produced before the war, when quality control was enforced. This rifle was part of the Romanian contract when they acquired 445, 640 of these rifles. After the factory was taken over by the Germans when Czechoslovakia was invaded in 1939, ZB produced around 250,000 more rifles that were used by the Wehrmacht under the name G.24t. In 1944, the factory was severely damaged in the bombing of Brno and was not rebuilt until after liberation by the allies. The two letter serial prefix “FR” indicates that this rifle was part of the Romanian Contract. The scope is an “I.O.R.” (Intreprinderea Optica Romana/Romanian Optical Enterprise) 4.5x28. Quite rare, especially still intact with scope and mounts. It is thought that these pre-WW2 rifles were selected and upgraded or repurposed into sniper rifles, with these scopes patterned after the Soviet Russian PEM, given that Romania was in the post-war Soviet Russian bloc. Overall condition is very good. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The stock is solid. The numbers on the receiver and the stock match. The glass on the scope is clear. The sling and scope covers remain in great shape. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 23-1/2 inches. Caliber: 8mm Mauser (7.92) Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R Licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3800 #230825 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
