Guns International #: 101990141
Seller's Inventory #: AL5363
This Model 1871 Spanish rolling block infantry rifle has the Portuguese crown over AR.O. over 1881 on the left side of the receiver. The 37"" round 11.15Z57R Spanish Remington (43 Spanish) round barre has a poor bore. All the metal is dark with light roughness. The butt stock is good with what may be a unit marking cut into the left side and No. 4384 on the right at the butt and forward of that, a circle cartouche with a crown over OVIEDO over 1881. There is a 1 behind the trigger guard tang. It has the expected usage dents and dings and the butt plate has moderate pitting from poor storage. The forend is good with usage dents and dings but no cracks or chips. The sling swivels and ramrod are present. The action is tight but functions correctly. It appears this rifle was made in Spain and sold to Portugal. It would be perfect for a European military rifle collection.
