***SOLD****Romanian Military Romarm Cugir PSL-54 Rifle in 7.62x54R w/ LPS 4X6° TIP 2 Scope
* MINTY & Looks UNFIRED! *
Description: ****SOLD**** This is an absolutely SPECTACULAR all-original Romanian Military PSL-54 Designated Marksman Rifle complete with the original and correct Romanian LPS 4X6° TIP2 scope, the 10rd factory magazine, and a Romanian military issue green sling. This rifle is 100% original and matching, with all of the parts that are serial numbered matching, and free from any modifications of any kind. The PSL-54 was adopted by the Romanian Military in 1974 for sniping and special issue as a Designated Marksman Rifle within Romanian Army rifle companies. Manufactured by Romarm / Cugir in the early 1990's for commercial sales and imported by Century, this PSL-54 apparently has spent it's entire life in storage as it is in like-new, minty condition both inside and out. While there is no way to know for sure, it appears to be totally unfired since the factory test fire. The factory original black oxide finish is in superb condition rating 98% plus with no visible finish wear of any kind, showing only some tiny little handling/storage marks that are only visible under extremely close inspection. The factory markings as well as the importer's markings are still crisp and clear, and the all of the small parts on the gun have a matching finish to each other in both finish color and condition. The factory chrome-lined bore in this PSL-54 is in mint condition, totally clean and immaculate with perfect, sharp rifling from the chamber to the crown of the muzzle. The factory combination muzzle brake / flash hider is in perfect shape, as-are the factory adjustable iron battle sights. The front sight is a post with protective ears and is drift-adjustable for windage, and the post can be screwed up or down for elevation when zeroing them. The rear sight is a ramp-type adjustable blade for elevation with a general battle-position at the rear, and range settings from 100 meters to 1200 meters in 100 meter increments. The scope and side-mount design allows the shooter to still use the iron sights even with the scope mounted on this rifle. The original stock set on this beauty is also in like-new condition. The laminated hardwood is very handsome with a light tan / honey brown color, and the block polymer pistol grip cap and steel buttplate still look like-new. A unique feature of the pistol grip / thumbhole style buttstock is the factory buttplate is spring-loaded to reduce recoil. The lower forearm section of the handguard is ventilated for barrel cooling and to keep the wood cooler during rapid fire, and both parts of the handguard/forearm match the buttstock perfectly. All of the stock parts fit on this rifle are nice and tight to the gun with no loose pieces or movement of any kind. As you would imagine, the internals of this Cugir PSL are just as spotless and free from wear as the exterior. There is no visible mechanical wear to any of the parts that typically show at least some superficial finish wear from firing or cycling the action. Everything inside looks brand new, and everything is properly fit and 100% functional. The bolt face is spotless with no primer ring erosion around the firing pin or finish wear, and the face of the hammer still has 96 to 97% of the blue finish on the face of it. This is very solid evidence of how little this rifle has even been cycled by hand or fired, as this is the very first place that will show finish wear as the bolt drags across the face of the hammer every time it is cycled to the rear. The 2-stage trigger in this designated marksman rifle (DMR) is quite good for an oversized AKM-based rifle. There was obviously some care taken when fitting the trigger assembly into the rifle to make it both lighter and smoother than a regular AK / AKM trigger. It is not match-quality by any means, but is good enough to be accurate once the shooter learns the feel of it. The trigger will get smoother as the the gun is fired and the surfaces get polished by contact with each other, or the new owner could spend an hour or two with the trigger parts, a dremel tool, and a polishing pad and make it super-slick by putting a mirror-like surface on any parts that move across each other when the trigger is pulled. The gas-operated action in this PSL-54 is very slick, smooth, and surprisingly precise in it's travel. There is substanially less play between the bolt and the rails it rides on in the receiver compared to a normal AK type rifle. When released from the rear the bolt slams home with authority and locks up perfectly into battery. All of the controls on this rifle are still crisp and tight, and everything works 100% like it was designed to. This Romarm Cugir PSL-54 is essentially a NEW RIFLE FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES. It should ABSOLUTELY function just as perfectly today as it did when it left the factory 28 +/- years ago and it still has 99% plus of it's service life remaining. This rifle comes complete with a correct, all-original, and 100% operational Romanian Optical Enterprise-built LPS 4X6° TIP 2 scope on a quick-release integral mount. Romanian Optical Enterprise otherwise known as I.O.R. (Intreprinderea Optica Romana) built all of the scopes for these rifles in their Bucharest plant. Unfortunately these scopes were not imported on the rifles, nor were there as many of them imported as there were rifles apparently, causing a shortage of inventory for anyone looking to complete their PSL-54. This Romanian Military-contract scope features a fixed 4 power magnification, a 6° degree field of view, a 24mm objective lens, an extendible sun shade, a Tritium-powered BDC sniper style reticle, a factory-supplied rubber lens cover and extended rear eyeshield/cup, a stadiametric range-finding reticle, a quick-release lever-operated side mount, an indexed 7.62x54R-calibrated BDC turrets for dialing in the range easily, and a hammered gray/black textured finish. These cool scopes feature a fairly easy to use stadiametric range-finding reticle commonly seen in most eastern European and Russian military sniper-type scopes from this period. This reticle allows you to determine the range of your target and has multiple verticle aiming points as well as 10 aiming points both to the right and left of center for crosswinds or shooting with a lead. Unlike the Russian scopes, the LPS TIP 2 does not have a battery powered lit-reticle feature, rather it was lit by Tritium only, the same radioactive substance used in the vast majority of modern handgun night sights. The tritium was removed from these scopes in order to import them into the U.S., so the reticle is no longer lit (which would be the case anyway because Tritium no longer glows after 6 to 8 years). The German-supplied glass lenses in this particular example are in great shape and are very clear and bright for the size of the lenses and the main tube. As long as you are not expecting Leupold Mark-4 level clarity and brightness the optics in this scope will not disappoint. The windage and elevation turrets are labeled in Romanian but the range markings are standard English numbers. The glass in this scope is free from any cracks, chips, delamination, or visible damage, both the windage and elevation adjustments work perfectly, the lever-actuated side mount locks up tight to the Warsaw Pact model mounting rail on the rifle, and the scope should hold zero perfectly even when removed and re-mounted several times. The throw lever to tighten the scope down is adjustable for tightness, and the mount has a recoil lug at the front to keep the scope securely in place. These original LPS 4X6° TIP2 scopes are very hard to find these days and a LOT more expensive than they used to be. In fact, most of the Romanian PSL-54's you will see on the market have the cheaper and much more plentiful Russian POSP version of the scope mounted on them because of this scarcity of the correct Romanian LPS. In addition to the original and proper scope, this investment-grade Romanian PSL-54 rifle comes with one original 10-round magazine and a Romanian Military greensling. If you have wanted one of these really cool sniper rifles for your collection here is your chance to get one of the best examples in existence, as there is no aspect of this rifle that could be improved upon!!! It really is as nice as it gets, and it is a COMPLETE rifle outfitted almost exactly as it would have been from the Romarm Cugir factory for the Romanian Army. The only thing this rifle does not have that the Romanian Military rifles have is a bayonet lug, which had to be removed prior to importing it into the U.S. to be legal. All in all, this is one hell of a very cool rifle! NOTE: If you plan to buy this rifle to shoot, the twist rate of the factory 24.4" inch long barrel is 1 twist every 10 inches and accuracy should be best with a heavy bullet, 174 & 181 grains and up. It will function with just about any 7.62x54R ammo however down to 150 grains. There is quite a bit of older mil-surp 174 grain and 181 grain 7.62x54R ammo out there but it is almost all corrosive, so make sure to clean EVERYTHING if you shoot that ammo in this rifle. Even though the bore and the gas piston attached to the bolt carrier is chrome plated, I would still make sure to clean off any residue in the bore or on the piston, along with the gas tube that houses the piston and everything that could get powder residue on it. With that said, don't expect to shoot better than 2 to 4 MOA with that mil-surp stuff as the com-bloc ammo made over the last 50 or 60 years is NOT very consistent from round to round, even within the same box or package. The most accurate ammo for this rifle will likely be factory-loaded match-grade 180 or 200 grain loads, or a hand-load developed just for this rifle. ********** Additional 10-round factory magazines may be available for an additional cost. ************ SOLD Rifle Caliber: 7.62x54mmR Manufacturer: Romarm / Cugir Model: PSL-54 Designated Marksman Rifle Serial Number: R-9748-09 Barrel Length: 24.4" Inches Bore: Chrome-Lined w/ 1 in 10" Inch Twist Rate Chambers: Chrome-Lined Condition: Like-New / Minty Metal Condition: Minty Wood Condition: Mint Bore Condition: Mint Action: Semi-Auto Triggers: 2-Stage Combat Trigger Stock: Original Romanian Factory Stock Set Butt Pad: Spring-Loaded Steel Buttplate to Reduce Recoil Finish: Factory Black Oxide Sights: Adjustable Iron Battle Sights Manufacture Date: Circa 1995 Extras: Correct Original Romanian LPS 4X6° TIP2 Scope, 10-Round Factory Magazine, & Original Romanian Military GreenSling |
