**SOLD** Arisaka Type 38 Bolt Action Rifle in 6.5 Japanese Caliber **Koishikawa Arsenal - Early Type**

**SOLD** Presented for consideration is an Arisaka Type 38 bolt action rifle in 6.5 Japanese caliber. The Type 38 rifle (??????, sanhachi-shiki hoheij?) is a bolt-action service rifle that was used by the Empire of Japan predominantly during the Second Sino-Japanese War and Second World War. The design was adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army in 1905 (the 38th year of the Meiji period, hence "Type 38"). Due to a lack of power in its 6.5×50mmSR Arisaka cartridge, it was partially replaced during the war with the Type 99 rifle, but both rifles saw usage until the end of the war. This is an early example made by the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo. This rifle has proper components for an early rifle like buttplate, safety and sling swivel bases. This rifle is in very good condition overall and everything works properly. There is some finish loss, high edge wear and of course handling marks. The stock is split into two parts and dovetailed together as is characteristic in the type 38 series. The rear sight is proper and is of the ladder type graduated to 2400 meters. The front sight is unhooded which is correct for early production rifles. This rifle would make a great addition to a collection of militaria.
