WW2 1941 G33/40 "dot" German Mountain Carbine (All Matching)
Description: From my collection of 25+ years is a 1941 dated G33/40 "dot" German mountain carbine. In 1941 all number codes were changed to letter codes. Proofs were waffenamt "63" and "WaA63" as shown in the photos. All metal parts were still milled and only the back of the bolt spine was serial numbered of 8072 b to match the serial number on the action, as seen in the photos (NOTE: in the bolt photo it appears to be not blued, but it is and matches the original bluing of the rifle). The bolt was hollowed out to save weight and has an eagle stamp on the top and 6 N stamped on the bottom. The know serial number range for the 1941 G33/40 if from 667 to 4360 c with an estimated production run of 35,000 carbines. Production was from 1940 until 1942 by Waffenwerke Brunn in Czechoslovakia. Total production of the G33/40 is estimated at 120,000 where the K98 rifle was 11,000,000. The stock with the many proofs of WaA63 is also serial numbered 8072 b matching the serial number on the action (see photo). Bore is bright with no pitting. The original bluing is excellent. This rifle has been the pride of my collection. From a publication is noted: G33/40's had one blemish in their otherwise sterling reputation. Military loads with 198-grain bullet at 2,500 fps caused soldiers to complain of recoil. It will belt you and for me leave a shoulder black and blue. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Rifle Caliber: 7.92x57mm Mauser Manufacturer: Waffenwerke Brunn Model: G33/40 Serial Number: 8072 b Condition: Excellent Metal Condition: Original Blued Stock: Numbered to Gun Finish: Original Weight: 7.9 lbs Manufacture Date: 1941 |
