Description: 1914 German TELL-BUESCHE Stalking Rifle 9.3x57mm BUG proofs WWI Single Shot Double Set Triggers, Octagonal Barrel, Light, Slender Here we present a C&R German Stalking Rifle, made circa July of 1914. This genre of rifles is also known as the “Tell-Buesche” after the tale of William Tell, the Swiss marksman. These were beloved for their slender and handy size and shape, perfect for stalking game in the mountains of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This one has double set triggers as well as a safety. Open iron sights kept the rifle light and it was made prior to wide availability and affordability of glass optics. This rifle handles really well and has a handsome aesthetic with the light wood grain and the simple scroll engraving. This has a 9.3mm bore and we believe this rifle is chambered in 9.3x57mm based on the measurements. The bottom of the barrel has the BUG proofs appropriate to the period and is gauged at “8,7m/m” with a proof date of “7.14”. The condition is fine. Original finish. The action is excellent and the double set triggers work perfectly. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. The stock is smooth and solid and nicely figured.
