M1 Carbine - QUALITY HARDWARE - 100% Correct
Description: PREFACE : The M1 Carbines I sell are not just for shooting, although they can do that too. I have totally disassembled each rifle to check parts authenticity and integrity. I take over 100 photos of each rifle if you want a closer look. When I say 100% CORRECT it means that all the parts are the same as that particular manufacturers production block left the factory with; not necessarily the exact same part, but an identical USGI Ordnance Department replacement from WWII. A field grade M1 Carbine is neat to have, but if you buy a collector grade rifle such as mine you get the best of both world's. There is one unique feature of the Quality Hardware M1 Carbines which is the use of the removable Type I Operating Slide Spring Tube throughout their WWII production. Winchester and Rockola used this design during early M1 Carbine production then soon adopted the receiver integrated Operating Slide Spring Tube. Officially named Quality Hardware & Manufacturing Company, produced 359,666 M1 Carbines in 4 different production blocks between February 1943 through May 1944. The M1 Carbine I am selling here was produced in the 4th block being serial number 4662177. The last produced Quality Hardware M1 Carbine was serial number 4879525. During the roughly 16 month span of production, Quality Hardware; as all manufacturers did, outsourced or subcontracted certain parts or procured the parts from other M1 Carbine contractors to keep the assembly lines moving. The rifle I have for sale here is 100% correct for the USGI parts based upon manufacture date, part type, and part supplier. The barrel dated 3-44 was made by Inland Manufacturing Division of General Motors which is correct, the walnut stock and hand guard are Rockola but stamped Q-RMC; correct. The receiver was made by Union Switch & Signal stamped QUALITY H.W.C. 4662177. Of record, a total 48,823 parts of 12 types were delivered to Quality Hardware from four other M1 Carbine contractors. Why my Quality Hardware M1 Carbine is Collector Grade is based on several factors. #1 - The metal parts are all matching in finish and wear. There is no evidence of the barrel band, front sight, or rear sight being changed. #2 - The stock and hand guard appear original due to the stampings of the cartouche on the right butt stock, and the Q RMC stamping in the sling well and hand guard. #3 - Internal parts exhibit consistant wear and finish right down to the Type III Hammer being "In The White". #4 - There are no reproduction integral mechanical parts used; only the sling, canvass case, and manual are quality reproductions. The identification and verification of authenticity of this carbines was determined by using descriptions and pictures in Roger Larson's book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine" and records compiled by The Carbine Club. Parts too small to be I.D. stamped; such as pins, screws, and springs were determined correct by picture comparisons, measurements, and descriptions. I won't bore you by listing every part and it's verification, but if you are truly interested in this rifle I have three data sheets avialble and over 100 pictures I can email you for further verification.
