French Md 1831 Rampart 21.8 MM Gun
Description: French 1831 military rampart or wall gun. This excellent example was built at Chaleville in 1833 as marked on the receiver and the stock rondel. This example show a 43 1/4" (1190mm) barrel with a twelve groove bright excellent bore in caliber 21.8mm The overall length is 66 1/2" or (1690mm). This gun in a breech loader intended to take a 62.5 gr ball. These were intended for usage up to 500 to 600 meters. These pieces were finished in the white and built with a tip up percussion breech. The metal has not been cleaned or polished and remains in excellent condition. The stock is walnut and is sound without any cracks or breaks and shows a clear military rondel.
