Swedish Model 1894 Carbine
Description:
6.5x55 caliber. Stock has the usual military handling marks. A couple reach the qualification of a gouge but in general, the rest of the marks are normal for military use and there aren’t as many as I’ve seen on quite a few M94s. The upper forewood for instance, only has some very light marks, and no cracks. The main stock wood has no cracks that I’ve been able to discern. There is an area right behind the upper tang that has a dark streak in the stain and has the look of a crack, but I can provide several photos that show there is no opening in the wood and that in reflected light the finish is solid and smooth. You be the judge. A stamp in the wood behind the trigger guard is well defined, thus indicating the stock has probably not been sanded. The gun has a very unique serial number, it is #34567. It is matching numbers except for the bolt, but the bolt fits right and operates smoothly. The date on the barrel shank is 1904. The blue-ing appears original and is mostly there in the receiver and barrel areas. It’s worn to 70+% everywhere else except the buttplate, where there is none but the buttplate has a nice bright metal finish to it that seems to compliment the gun. Metal stampings throughout are well defined The only surface rust prickles I can find are some small light areas on the buttplate. The bolt is nice and shiny with no pitting. There is no evidence of import marks. The torped brass disc is shiny with well defined markings. This one still has the range scale plate on it. How often do you see that? Rear sling leather is in great shape. Leather sling is aged but is still in pretty decent shape. Bore is a big plus on this one, bright and shiny with decent grooving.
