Swedish Lahti Husqvarna Model 40, 9mm Semiautomatic Pistol
Description: The Swedish-Lahti Model 40, 9mm pistol is a copy of the Finnish Lahti L-35 pistol. It was manufactured by Husqvarna Vapenfabriks from 1940 to 1946. It is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Parabellum, aka 9mm Luger, and as a 4.75-inch barrel. The left side of the slide is stamped with “HUSQVARNA VAPENFABRIKS A.B. (first line) and “D9386”. The left side of the frame, just above the grip panel, is stamped “D9386”. The back of the frame, just below the back of the slide, is stamped with a crown (first line) and “HV” (second line). The front of the frame, just below the barrel, bears the importation markings. In the first line, the first letter is to hard to make out; the second letter may be “A”; the third and fourth are “CO”. The second line reads “RIDGEFIELD N.J.”. To dots are stamped on the backstrap. I have no idea what this represent, but it appears on other Model 40s. Finally, there is an ”S” on the left side of the frame designating the safety position. The gun comes with one original magazine. There are no box, papers, or other accessories with this gun. The overall condition of the gun itself is 98 percent. The bluing is 98+ percent, with a few scratches on the right side of the frame, just above the grip panel (visible in photos). There is also a little bluing wear on the muzzle, but not much, and there is small scratch on the bottom of the barrel, about 1 ½ inches from the muzzle. The rest of the bluing is 99 percent, with a small amount of wear on the high parts. The plastic grip panels are like new, with no marks for other signs of wear. The checkering and the Husqvarna "crown H" motif on both grip panels are unmarked and show no wear. The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.
