Description: Holiday Special- French WWI Model 1907/15 8MM Lebel Military Bolt Rifle Offered here for sale as a holiday special is this newly acquired original French military rifle from the turn of the century. The French 1907/15 was an updated longarm of the Model 1907. In 1914, the St. Etienne Arsenal and manufacture rushed into production and supplemented the depleting stocks of 1907 Lebel rifles. The result was the 1907-15 Berthier rifle. By mid 1915 the first rifles were reaching the troops. This is a typical arsenal update and typical hard use these thousands of rifles endured during the war. Many recovered, reissued, reused, etc. Chambered for the 8MM Lebel cartridge this had a 3 shot magazine. 37” barrel. The metal has an overall black-brown patina with evidence (shown) of pitting along the top of barrel. The stock appears an updated arsenal restock with a tiny stress crack behind tang. Although again seeing much use it is still in SOLID SHAPE. The bore is still good with some spots inside. The wood is still sound. Mechanically in excellent condition. For the starter collector, the vintage shooter or reenactor or for the collector who wants a display piece over the fireplace this may be for you.
