This Model 1882 Maynard Improved Target /Rifle No. 16 is in the desirable 45-70 caliber. The overall length is approx. 43"". The 26"" part round/part octagon barrel has an excellent bore with bright rifling. The front sight is an interchangeable peep and the rear is a two-leaf fold up. The octagon part of the barrel extends to the forend tip. The barrel is an even blue/brown with very light spotting. The receiver has a brown patina with areas of the original case colors visible. The left side has the 1873 date and the right the 1882 date. The tang has a Lyman style sight mounted on it. It has a fine extra fancy grain checkered pistol grip stock and matching checkered forearm. It also has a Swiss type buttplate. The action functions correctly.
