WORLD WAR I and II Era TURKISH Model 1903 7.92mm MAUSER Infantry Rifle C&R
Turkish MILITARY Rifle w/ SLING, BAYONET, & SHEATH
Description: WORLD WAR I and II Era TURKISH Model 1903 7.92mm MAUSER Infantry Rifle C&R Turkish MILITARY Rifle w/ SLING, BAYONET, & SHEATH Here we present a C&R Turkish Model 1903 Military Rifle made in Berlin, Germany circa 1905 by Mauser with a production run between 1903 and 1910 and upgraded circa 1938. The Mauser Model 1903, also known as the Ottoman Mauser, was a Gewehr 98 pattern bolt action rifle designed for the Ottoman Army. They were produced by Mauser in Germany. After the adoption of this rifle, 200,000 were delivered before 1905. Also, there were 406 Marine-Gewehre delivered to the Ottoman Navy in 1904 and 7,617 to the Gendarmerie in Ottoman Macedonia. 1,100 more, modified to fire spitzer bullets and sometimes known as M1910, were ordered in 1910. The Ottoman customs also received some. Many of the Turkish rifles were lumped together into a group called the Model of 1938, which wasn’t a single model, but rather a common set of features. The designation isn’t even one that the Turks used, but rather is a designation that U.S. importers used to describe these rifles. Though the Turks were neutral in World War II, they were courted by both the Allies and the Axis. But even with the courting, they stayed neutral to the end of the war. They gave refuge to both sides, giving refuge to the Germans that were escaping the Soviets in Bulgaria and Romania in 1944, and the Allies in Greece in late 1944 and early 1945. The Model 1903 saw combat during the Italo-Turkish War, the Balkan Wars, World War I] and the Turkish War of Independence. After World War I, most of these weapons were modified to fire the 7.92×57mm Mauser round. Many of the long rifles were refurbished as Mauser Model 1938 short rifles. Models 1903 and 1905 were still in service in the 1960s. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore has darkened from time, rifling is present. Sturdy stock contains less than expected handling wear. Clear markings. The leather sling and bayonet are in good shape. Numbers do not match on this example. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 29-1/2 inches. Caliber: 7.92x57mm (8mm) Mauser Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
