#3599, John Rigby & Co. 43 Sackville St. London W: A John Rigby Intermediate Mauser Action in 275 Rigby (7x57 Mauser) built in 1910, 25" barrel with a band island rear sight with 1 standing & 1 folding rear sights, Front ramp, Barrel sling eye, Commercial Mauser Action marked on the receiver left wall "Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorf", Mauser #82213 made in 1908; The receiver, barrel, magazine box, floorplate, bolt, safety, bolt sleeve, bolt release, trigger and the stock all have matching Mauser numbers, The stock inside has both the Mauser & Rigby numbers, Under the stock line the receiver has the Rigby number, Nitro proved both in London and Germany, Sighted with 140 grain bullet and so engraved on the receiver ring, Rigby cocking piece peep sight, Non-hinged floorplate, An original lightning cut inside on the front tang of the magazine box, It has a pure classic Rigby pre-war stock, Point pattern checkering, A very nice piece of wood, 14 1/8" L.O.P. over a checkered steel buttplate, 7 lbs. 6 oz., Excellent internal inletting, The blue at 92% on the barrel and receiver, The blue on the magazine box at 85%, The blue on the floorplate at 85%, The wood finish I believe has been oiled but I can assure you it was not sanded and remains at 70% with scattered dings and scratches but it is as solid as a rock, The checkering is original and remains at 90%, The bore is very good with some greying in the grooves the last 9" toward the muzzle. It was very properly drilled and tapped with 2 screws in the receiver ring and 1 screw in the receiver bridge. Most of these 7x57's were well used and shot a lot but this one has lived a fairly sheltered life. This is a solid classic Rigby 275 that was built in the Golden Era of all things Rigby and Mauser.
