WW2 German DOT 44 K-98 Rifle in 8mm Mauser
** Nice Representative Piece w/ Matching Bolt ** SALE PENDING
Description: This is a very nice representative example of the main battle rifle of Nazi Germany in World War 2, the Mauser K-98. This particular example was made in 1944 by Waffen Werke Brunn, who's wartime code in '44 was DOT. It is a non-import G.I. bring-back trophy gun that was at one time sporterized and has been put back into a proper stock. The receiver, triggerguard, floorplate, trigger parts, barrel, and entire bolt are all-matching and original. The stock, barrel bands, and stock hardware are not matching but original WW2 German manufacture. When the gun was sporterized and the top handguard was scrapped, the collar that retains the rear of the handguard on the front of the rear sight housing was gound off, otherwise it was un-altered. There is a close-up picture provided of this in the listing. The original factory finish on this rifle has a great "combat used" look to it, with handling marks and high edge wear you would expect to see on a rifle that served in combat. The bore in this K-98 is very good with strong rifling throughout the bore and no major imperfections or pitting. It should still be very accurate and an excellent shooter. The bolt is 100% matching and original to the rifle. The bolt is in excellent condition and the action is slick and precise. The stock is an original WW2 German K-98 stock that has been altered with a reinforcing lug thru the upper wrist and a stamped serial number on the left side of the butt, these are possibly Czech modification but otherwise keeps the WW2 German looks. The right side of the buttstock still has a legible "Eagle H" which is the original Nazi acceptance proof for the German Wehrmacht (Army). All of the stock hardware is intact, nicely fit to the rifle, and WW2 German production peices. All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order and we have no doubt that this DOT 44 K-98 would shoot just as reliable and accurately today as the day it left the Waffen Werke Brunn factory in 1944. If you have been looking for a nice combat-used K-98 for your collection that you can enjoy on display as an investment and at the shooting range, this DOT 44 would be an excellent choice. K-98's in any condition are hard to find these days, much less a non-import rifle with a matching bolt and a great bore.
