1941 WWII German Mauser K98 bnz Steyr Austria manufacture 8mm Mauser Good Condition

Description:
WWII German Mauser K98 bolt action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm) caliber.  This rifle, serial number 710g, is stamped "bnz" and "41" on the receiver bridge.  This indicates manufacture in 1941 by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Steyr, Austria.  It was imported by InterAmerican Company, denoted by a small import marking "IA CO SAC CA GERMANY 8MM" on the side of the barrel. The rifling is visible and defined and the bore is gray throughout.  The rifle has a 5-round internal magazine that can be manually loaded or fed through a 5-round stripper clip (not included).

The left side of the receiver is marked with a “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number and “Mod. 98”. The right side of the receiver is marked with four “eagle / WaA623” Waffenamts. The barrel shank is marked with a “eagle / swastika”, with the serial number and with 3 “eagle / WaA623” Waffenamts. The rear sight base is marked inside with an “eagle / WaA623” Waffenamt and the serial number. The nosecap, barrel band, bottom metal and bolt assembly are marked with numbers that do not correlate to the serial number and/or “eagle” inspection stamps/Waffenamts. The butt is marked “gqm / 43”. There are a few other small markings on the rifle.

The front sight is an inverted “V” post set atop a ramped base.  There is no protective hood. The rear sight is a “V” notched blade attached to a sliding sight escalator marked from “1-20”.  The laminate wood stock is in very good condition and has a pistol grip, nosecap with bayonet lug, hole for the included cleaning rod, barrel band with sling bar, through bolt, scallop for the bolt handle, sling well, sling pass through and domed washer. The steel cupped buttplate shows normal wear.
