Description: Guns Listing ID: 678066 This is a pre-owned Marlin Model 1894 lever action rifle in fair condition. Wooden stock looks like it has been redone in the past. Comes as is. The caliber is 38-40 which equals 10mm. Year of Mfg. is 1899 according to a researched database. This Marlin features a 24-inch octagonal barrel chambered in .38-40 WCF. Please note the .38-40 is a black powder round, at the time this rifle was manufactured smokeless powder was still a relatively new technology and firearms manufacturers we in the process of transitioning away from weaker black powder rifles to newer stronger metals that could handle smokeless powder. The Model 1894 was very popular in Canada, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest, where the cold/wet climate often froze top ejectors shut like the Winchester 1894.
